On Sunday, August 2, join Element 151 & the Summer Film Initiative (SFI) at Camera 3 in downtown San Jose for the premiere of “Decisions, Decisions.” Sponsored by the City of San Jose and the Mayor’s Gang Prevention Task Force, the students involved wrote, produced, shot and promoted this project.
About SFI…
Through the summer film initiative a select group of high school students from the San Jose area will have the opportunity to learn filmmaking skills in a one of a kind summer session.
The SFI09 group will learn the fundamentals of film and video production from the ground up. They will be developing, producing, shooting, and editing a PSA ( public service announcement ) over the course of four weeks. PSA’s are intended to modify public attitudes by raising awareness about specific issues. They will be introduced to the latest technology in independent filmmaking and will be working with the same equipment that hollywood uses. Guided by industry professionals the group will have an opportunity to work side by side with some of the best in the bay area.
SFI09 will also have the opportunity to take field trips in the local resources available to help continue their filmmaking education after the summer is over.
Guest speakers that are specific to the industry will come in a talk to the group about various elements of filmmaking such as sound recording, acting, editing and writing for the screen.
At the end of the session there will be a premiere of the groups finished product for the rising stars of SFI09.
